About the Friends of the Harris Garden

The Friends of the Harris Garden charity was formed in 1987 to support the development and maintenance of the garden. Our constitution is available here (PDF, 819 KB).

Our weekly volunteers provide essential maintenance in the garden working with the head gardener. We help fund redevelopment work in partnership with the University.

The Friends have provided or contributed to many the major features in the garden including the Flower Stream and Damp Garden, the Ornamental Orchard, the main path suitable for wheelchair access, planting for the herbaceous borders, Meadow bulbs, the Red Border, and the Dry Border.

The Committee that runs the charity’s activities is elected each year at the Annual General Meeting, normally held in May.

Everyone, whether a Friend or not, is welcome as a volunteer! (See here for more information about volunteering.)
